The annual gathering of LEAD's student leadership teams — a day of reflection, strategy, and renewed commitment to student-driven campus culture.
The LOT Leadership Conclave is LEAD College's annual gathering of student leaders — a focused, single-day event where the heads and coordinators of all student-run Operations Teams (LOTs) come together to reflect, align, and plan.
The 2023 edition was held at the start of the academic year and set the tone for everything that followed. Thirty-two students representing LOTs across events, communications, sustainability, welfare, and cultural initiatives gathered for a day that was part strategy session, part team-building, and part honest reckoning with what the previous year had achieved and where it had fallen short.
The morning opened with a facilitated review of the previous year — what events had worked, what hadn't, and why. The conversation was candid. Students spoke openly about resource constraints, communication breakdowns, and the challenge of managing academic pressure alongside leadership responsibilities. Faculty observers noted, afterwards, that the quality of self-assessment on display was unusually mature.
The afternoon shifted to forward planning. Each LOT team presented its priorities for the coming year, with particular attention to collaboration across teams — a perennial challenge in any student-run organisation. Cross-functional working groups were formed on the spot, with students from different LOTs pairing up around shared goals.
A keynote session by a leadership coach in the late afternoon introduced frameworks for leading without formal authority — a particularly relevant topic for students navigating peer relationships, accountability, and the limits of role-based power.
The conclave closed with a commitment exercise: each LOT leader articulated one concrete change they would make in their approach to leadership over the coming year. The statements were written, witnessed, and posted on the LOT board in the main corridor — where they remained visible for the rest of the academic year.
The conclave is not just an event. It is the annual moment when LEAD's student-driven culture resets, recommits, and moves forward together.
